Dilapidations seminar success for Thrings’ property experts

Lead host Warren Reid was joined by fellow property litigation expert Michael Tatters and restructuring and insolvency specialist Mark Cullingford as Thrings hosted professionals from many of the South West’s leading building surveying practices.

Warren, who is head of commercial property and property litigation at Thrings, welcomed guests to the Paragon before sharing his views on some of the most pressing dilapidations issues facing the property industry.

This was followed by a joint presentation from Mark Cullingford and chartered accountant and licensed insolvency practitioner Nick Clarke from Mazars, who outlined the role of the insolvency practitioner, offered advice to landlords and their agents on their approach to dilapidations, and discussed deposit deeds.

Warren then returned to the speakers’ platform to share some practical tips and use case law to discuss cladding within dilapidations, with a focus on service charges, liability and nuisance issues.

The event was closed by Michael Tatters, whose talk - ‘Tenants requiring landlords to prove a loss’ – looked at breaches of tenants’ repair covenants and the options available to landlords who are pursuing claims for damages against tenants.

Several members of Thrings’ Commercial Property, Property Litigation and Construction teams also acted as event hosts, including associates Amari Rajendran and Caitlin Mills, and solicitors Vanessa Kibble, Eszter Lakos and Aroa Merino-Munoz.
