Colin is our Head of Office for Bristol and also leads the Bristol and Bath elements of our Commercial Property Team (including our Construction and Planning Teams).

Colin is a specialist in residential development (leading our house builder team) and also has a significant practice advising on all aspects of commercial development transactions including the associated landlord, tenant and funding requirements. As part of his role Colin works closely with our planning, infrastructure, construction, banking, plot sales and environmental specialists to offer clients a full-service package for all types of development and regeneration projects.

Key Experience

Colin’s relevant experience includes:

  • advising national and regional residential developers on the acquisition (by way of conditional contracts, promotion agreements and options) of residential and mixed-use developments on bespoke and volume sites ranging from 1 to 300 units
  • advising Newland Homes on options, conditional and unconditional site acquisitions including phasing, deferred payments and complex overage and clawback provisions
  • acting for a regional land promoter on the acquisition of a brownfield site for a mixed-use scheme which included a marina development plus retail, office and residential buildings
  • advising Blue Cedar Homes on their age restricted residential development schemes
  • advising Greene King plc on their site acquisitions for their Farmhouse Inns and Hungry Horses brands
  • acting for Cotswold Homes on significant residential development schemes for 90+ units
  • acting for a land-owner in Surrey on the phased conditional sale of part of their site for residential development in which the consideration was secured by way of built plots retained by the land-owner, phased payments and overage
  • advising a land-owner on a 20-year option of a greenfield site to a plc house builder for a six figure premium
  • advising a high street lender on the multi-million pound refinance of a leisure chain
  • acting for AIB on the refinance of a major multi-million pound residential and leisure scheme in St Ives
  • acting for local developers and investors on all aspects of their commercial property portfolio
