Published this week, the annual independent Legal 500 directory – which reviews the strengths of lawyers across the UK and recommends them based on feedback from their clients and peers – has acknowledged the firm’s expertise and high-quality legal advice in a number of practice areas.

The practice areas are: Agriculture and Estates; Banking and Finance; Commercial Litigation; Commercial Property; Construction; Contentious Trusts and Probate; Corporate and Commercial; Debt Recovery; Employment; Environment; Family; Insolvency and Corporate Recovery; Intellectual Property; IT and Telecoms; Personal Tax, Trusts and Probate; Planning; and Property Litigation.

Partners Megan Jefferies, Mike Tomlin, Ramona Derbyshire, Russell Reeves and Sally Pike are also ranked as ‘Leading Individuals’ in the directory, regarded as the largest and most in-depth survey of the UK legal market.

Ramona Derbyshire receives the honour in two practice areas – Commercial Litigation and Debt Recovery – with Megan Jefferies recognised for Intellectual Property, Mike Tomlin for Banking and Finance, and Sally Pike for Family law.

Russell Reeves is acknowledged for his contribution to Thrings’ Agriculture and Estates team which has retained its Tier 1 ranking, with the directory describing it as “very professional and very knowledgeable” with a “good range of experience…and personable individuals”.

Leading individuals are defined as “true market leaders, with long-established reputations in their sector, lead roles in multiple recent significant matters, and exceptional, widespread recognition and endorsement from peers in the market and clients alike”.

Meanwhile Elaine Meyrick and Robert James are named as ‘Next Generation Partners’ – “lawyers with (generally) five years or fewer at partner level which have received significant recognition from clients and peers in the market, and recently taken lead roles on multiple matters” - for their expertise in Corporate and Commercial and Agriculture respectively.

Simon Holdsworth, managing partner of Thrings, said: “Legal 500 is a leading guide to law firms and solicitors in the UK, with its rankings based on merit and feedback from clients and industry peers.

“I would like to congratulate the individuals and teams at Thrings who have been ranked. They have all worked incredibly hard, and it is great to see the outstanding legal expertise and client service that they continue to provide being recognised in this way.”
