John is a Senior Corporate Partner and advises a diverse range of commercial and corporate clients local, national and international. Awarded the prestigious Client Partner of the Year accolade at the Lawyer Awards, he is also top-ranked by Chambers UK for corporate law in his region and consistently recommended by Legal 500. John frequently leads corporate transactions, including sales, acquisitions, restructures, buy-outs, investments, refinancing and joint ventures. He also provides strategic guidance to management teams and business owners, and supports a number of in-house legal teams. John is Head of Office for Swindon and sits on the Thrings Management Board.

John's relevant experience includes:
  • acting on 25 share and asset acquisitions in the downstream oil sector for one of the UK's leading distributors
  • acting on the $191m sale of Watson Petroleum Limited to World Fuel Services, a global energy business
  • acting on the sale of Specialist Information Management and Business Intelligence Consulting Firm - Information Management Group (IMGROUP) to Hitachi Consulting
  • acting on the complete corporate restructure of a European Group of Companies in line with cutting-edge tax planning
  • advising global brand owners regarding the leverage of marketing, product launches and endorsements during global sporting events
  • drafting and negotiating a multi-national media agreement for a FTSE 100 company, to cover long-term media purchase over all platforms, including television and digital
