Thrings partners with the SWLEP for Business Growth Hub event

Legal experts lead webinar on company sales and acquisitions.

Members of Thrings’ Business Growth Hub have continued their support for the region’s SME market by joining forces with the Swindon and Wiltshire LEP (SWLEP) for an online event to discuss the key processes involved in the buying and selling of a business.

Corporate partner Simon Hore outlined the challenges and opportunities facing businesses during the acquisition process while Ramona Derbyshire, Commercial Dispute Resolution partner and head of Recoveries, shared insight into Thrings’ Business Growth Hub at the webinar which was attended by SME business owners and representatives from many leading professional services firms.

The free event was hosted by the SWLEP - a private sector-led partnership between local businesses, Swindon Borough Council, Wiltshire Council, the military and the education sector – as part of its Growth Hub’s successful ‘This Way Up’ business growth webinar programme.

Ramona kicked things off with a presentation about Thrings’ Business Growth Hub, the firm’s specialist offering aimed at enabling entrepreneurs, families and small to medium-sized businesses to grow and succeed.

Simon then ran attendees through some of the key considerations ahead of the sale of a business, including common deal structures, the roles of sellers’ professional advisors and the legal documents required ahead of the sale.

Thrings has been invited to contribute to two of the SWLEP’s ‘This Way Up’ business growth webinars, which are funded by the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.

The second – entitled ‘Protecting the value in your business: don’t get caught out by your contracts’ and featuring partner Kate Westbrook and associate Abigail Sinden from Thrings’ Commercial team – takes place today (2 March).

Ramona said: “Thrings is delighted to be continuing its support for the region’s SME base which we recognise as being the engine room of the south-west economy.

“Adding value to our clients’ businesses, and beyond, is the aim of Thrings’ Growth Hub and we would be very pleased to hear about any other hot topics or thorny issued which business owners would like advice on.”
