Debt financing for businesses takes off

The variety of finance options for businesses is one of the key characteristics of the decade following the financial crisis and consequent shake-up of UK banking regulations.

The right blend of finance should reflect the stage a business is at in its development, while also considering its plans for growth. Businesses have a range of options to fund this growth, for instance, through loans, bonds or leasing arrangements for long-term debt – or overdrafts and asset-based finance for working capital.

Business news publication, Insider, asked experts across the South West for insight into debt finance in the region and what this tells us about its economy.

Thrings’ own Mike Tomlin, a corporate and banking partner based in our Bristol office, observes a strong appetite among larger banks to provide debt finance. Coupled with alternative debt funding from challenger banks and asset financing structures, Mike sees an abundance of options available to borrowers in the region.
