The foundation is revered for the work it does to empower young and disadvantaged people in and around the city to succeed. Further to raising money for its own projects, the foundation supports three local charities annually – this year Bath City Farm, Time is Precious and the Trauma Recovery Centre.
Managing partner Simon Holdsworth presented the Inspiration Award and commented: “The foundation works so hard to empower young people through the power of sport, with real commitment from its passionate and dedicated staff and supporting companies and organisations. Each of the nine award categories showcased truly inspiring initiatives, people and stories. To be able to see, first hand, the projects and the impact they’ve had is wonderful.”
Over 20 Thrings staff have regularly given up their time to support the foundation’s fundraising efforts, for example, selling raffle tickets at local rugby matches alongside the Bath Rugby Foundation team. Each game saw in the region of £1,000 raised by the volunteers, with a record-breaking £2,000+ being collected at the match against Bristol Rugby on 18 November.
Thrings volunteers will continue to support efforts at future matches, as well as take part in initiatives run by the foundation over the coming summer.
Bath-based Legal Secretary, Laura Robinson, and family law solicitor, Samantha Newton, have been in charge of rallying and organising Thrings’ volunteers. Laura said: “We’re incredibly proud of the recognition team Thrings has received for its hard work and dedication to this excellent cause. What we’ve managed to raise over the past two years is absolutely incredible!
On a personal level, I like to get involved in as many Bath Rugby Foundation fundraising events and activities as possible and am looking forward to running my second Bath Half Marathon for the charity in March 2017. I would strongly advise anyone who is thinking about signing up to help, to do so! You will be supported by a highly enthusiastic and expert team that will assist you in any way you need. Here is to the continuation of a successful fundraising season!”
