Every year, RICS, the leading body for land, property, construction and infrastructure professionals puts on a comprehensive day of legal, technical, and topical updates tailored to the region’s surveying community.
Addressing the 160-strong audience in the South West once again on 20 November are head of commercial property at Thrings, Warren Reid, and associate Matthew Smith. The experts in property disputes will cover the full spectrum of dilapidations considerations, including:
- Early claim and dispute issues
- Preparing and responding to a claim and complying with the Dilapidations Protocol
- Options for exploring settlement
- Recent case law and lessons arising for surveyors.
Among the significant court cases to be unpicked at the sold-out event is that of Manchester landmark, Beetham Tower - the tallest completed building in the UK outside London. The 47 floors, owned by North West Ground Rents (NWGR) Limited, comprise of a hotel and residential units. When windows became unstable, a dispute arose between NWGR and hotel leaseholders Blue Manchester Ltd around who was responsible for repairs, and what constituted satisfactory upkeep.
The seminar marks a continuation of the relationship between RICS and Thrings, with members of our Property Litigation team regularly contributing to the industry body’s seminar series.
