Our Agriculture Team has been involved in a number of high-profile matters. Highlights include:
- Representing a defendant company and its managing director at multiple Police interviews and then defending one of the country’s largest ever Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority investigations concerning 40 dairy farmers across 16 counties in England and Wales, with many cases involving foreign workers, the UK Border Agency and Proceeds of Crime Act.
- Representing a company and its directors on an investigation by the then Gangmasters Licensing Authority, which received significant attention in the national press including the Times, Guardian and Daily Mail. The case involved criminal proceedings, civil proceedings, allegations of exploitation of workers, the Human Rights Act and international law.
- Advising a Scottish based company on allegations that it had supplied unlicensed labour to the UK agriculture industry, resulting in no further action being taken against our client company.
- Appealing the GLAA licensing decision for a specialist agricultural recruitment company in the employment tribunal.
