Jonathan hails from the north east, where he latterly lived in Upper Coquetdale in Northumberland. He and his wife had a small landholding utilised in a sheep farming operation.
Jonathan has been practising as an agricultural lawyer for 22 years. He was worked in Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland, East Anglia, London, Surrey and now Hampshire.
He specialises in sales and purchases of agricultural land, farm tenancies, and in providing strategic and commercial advice to family farming businesses. He has a growing practice and great interest in matters developing out of the changes from Brexit and agriculture: these include agri-environmental schemes and carbon mitigation schemes under the anticipated Environment Act 2021 and Agriculture Act 2020.
His personal interest in agriculture has led to him being the current chairman of Surrey County Agricultural Society. In Northumberland he used to help organise the Alwinton Border Shepherds’ Show.
