Thrings Partner, Sam Doherty will be tackling succession planning on the next Farmers Weekly webinar taking place next month.
Sam, a Partner in the firm’s Private Client team, joins the panel for the magazine’s latest Business Clinic event to discuss how to address the sometimes sensitive issue of succession. This will see her focusing on farm business continuity and resilience which provides a framework within which family businesses can fully explore the best interests of the future of the business and the expectations of family members to benefit from it.
She will also look at how the process can be led upwards by younger family members and downwards by older business owners, each of whom might find the subject difficult.
Sam said: “For many farm business owners, the thought of passing the business to the next generation might seem daunting but, when considered in the context of business continuity and resilience to whatever the future might hold, the process forms part of sound business management for those involved.
“I look forward to discussing the topic with the panel and exploring the methods by which family farm businesses can ensure their survival through the generations.”
The webinar will be held on Tuesday 15 October from 5pm to 6.15pm. You can find out more about the event here.
