How it all began… Thrings to host live panel with Bath Digital festival founders

Bath Digital Festival

Thrings is talking tech this week as the firm holds its first ever in-person Thrings Meets with the organisers of the Bath Digital Festival.

As a sponsor for this year’s festival, which was created to bring people and technology together to explore the city’s thriving digital scene, Thrings is turning the event’s focus back on itself for a discussion on the history of festival founder techSPARK and the importance of Bath’s digital community.

Chaired by Thrings Head of Commercial Kate Westbrook, the panel will feature:

  • Ben Shorrock, Managing Director, techSPARK
  • Abby Frear, Director, techSPARK
  • Katrina Kelly, Head of Community Engagement, University of Bath

The Thrings Meets project, which was launched by the award-winning UK200 law firm in 2018,  shines the spotlight on amazing businesses, individuals and good causes across Bath, Bristol and Hampshire, helping to share their stories with a wider audience.

As well as looking back on the formation of the festival and talking about techSPARK’s 10th birthday celebrations, the panel will be seeking to discuss the challenges the tech industry faces in our region, why face-to-face communities are still relevant in a digital age and what makes Bath such a great digital hub.

Taking place from 14-16 May, this year’s Bath Digital Festival is set to explore three key themes this year: Sport & Life Sciences, Space and Cities. The Thrings Meets special in-person event takes place at Newark Works on Wednesday, 15 May from 6pm.
