Carbon neutrality and sustainability in the development industry was the talking point at an event sponsored by Thrings in Bristol last week.
The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) event on 27 June, entitled ‘Letters to the Designers of Tomorrow’, saw a series of speakers all focused on how the development industry is likely to change for coming generations and was run in partnership with Women in Property.
An all-female panel discussing the potential future impacts of the government’s net carbon zero initiatives was chaired by Ros Trotman, Partner in the Planning team and Head of Development of Land, with a constructive debate on topics ranging from how individuals, businesses and the council can be more sustainable to what building practices and materials will help achieve climate-friendly goals in the future.

The event, held at Spike Island in Bristol and organised by Thrings paralegal Alice Brydon and the CIBSE committee, culminated in attendees being invited to contribute their thoughts on the themes of the evening to a time capsule which will be opened in 2030.
