Partners Megan Jefferies and Graeme Fearon, and business development manager Ruth Miller Smith, will travel to the Catalonian capital on 21 May where they will join more than 10,000 trademark and IP specialists for a series of business strategy meetings, exhibitions, education and social events.

INTA is a not-for-profit global membership organisation of trademark owners and legal advisors. Representing 30,000 members from more than 7,000 organisations in 190 countries, it aims to protect consumers and promote fair and effective commerce.

During the course of the five-day event, Megan and Graeme will meet with existing and prospective clients, referrers, lawyers and trademark attorneys working in jurisdictions such as Australia, Brazil, China, Nigeria, Mexico, Argentina, New Zealand, Kenya and Russia, as well as those closer to home in the UK and Europe.

They will also join C-level executives, general counsel, government officials, customs agencies, IP economists, academics, media and judges for the keynote speech which is being delivered by Íñigo Méndez de Vigo, Spain’s Minister of Education, Culture and Sport.

Megan says: “Thrings has a growing IP practice, in the field of both contentious and non-contentious law, with a client base that already includes Mango Bicycles, Miller Harris, Links of London, Lovehoney and Orlebar Brown.

“The INTA meeting gives us a huge opportunity to highlight some of our IP work, strengthen relationships with existing referrers, and forge new relationships with referrers on a global level, as well as strengthen the firm’s growing international practice.”

The event – which is taking place for the 139th time – is returning to Europe for the first time since 2008, having been held in Florida, California, Hong Kong, Texas and Ontario in recent years.
