Options for new revenue streams to be considered at online event.
Professional agricultural and rural community consultants will discuss the opportunities and challenges of diversification at the British Institute of Agricultural Consultants (BIAC) Online Wales Event 2021 next month.
Chartered surveyors, planners, land agents, farmers, landowners and other rural professionals will consider whether diversification can bridge the gap for every Welsh farmer at the free-to-attend virtual conference on Thursday 11 February.
The event will comprise two sessions: delegates will review and discuss farming policy in Wales in the morning, while in the afternoon the focus will switch to diversification and how farmers can make the most out of their resources.
Guest speakers will include Julian Atkins, chief executive of the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority, Nicola Slater, senior environment officer at Natural Resources Wales, and James Owen, deputy director for Land Management Reform at the Welsh Government.
Meanwhile, beef and sheep farmer Dilys Owens, together with Graham Leaver from Egis Consultancy Ltd, will discuss the former’s successful diversification from agriculture to glamping and luxury camping.
The BIAC Online Wales Event 2021 event - which is being co-sponsored by Thrings – will be co-chaired by Alex Madden, partner and head of planning and environment at Thrings.
Alex said: “There has never been a greater need for businesses to become more agile in order to retain their competitive edge. In the rural sector farm diversification projects can play an important role in providing economic opportunities and introducing complementary income streams to support farming businesses and the wider rural economy.
“BIAC is a professional association whose members play a key role in advising farmers, rural businesses and those who care passionately for the environment and countryside. Thrings is proud of its long-term relationship with BIAC and the opportunities it provides to work on exciting and rewarding projects.” For more information about the BIAC Online Wales Event 2021, please click here.
