Stamp Duty Land Tax: Unintended consequences for leaseholders?

New Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) rules were introduced in April 2016 aiming to tackle increases in house prices and to grow home ownership among UK residents.

Other than the buy-to-let market, also affected were purchasers of holiday homes, parents buying for their children and flat owners seeking to extend the leases of the properties in which they reside.
