Law firm Thrings continues its longstanding commitment to developing junior talent with the qualification of three new lawyers, including two through its renowned trainee scheme.

Isobel Gentle becomes the newest solicitor in the firm’s award-winning Agricultural team, splitting her time between the Romsey and Bristol offices. Meanwhile, Bailey Wearden joins the Commercial Property team in Bristol and Bath. Also qualifying through the alternative CILEx route is Emily Gulliver in the firm’s Romsey office who becomes a Chartered Legal Executive within the Family team.

Having completed seats in Agriculture, as well as with the Private Client and Planning and Environment teams, Isobel has developed a wide range of expertise in supporting rural clients in their personal and commercial endeavours and will help to strengthen the team’s already outstanding reputation, specialising in particular on advising landowners with their renewable energy projects and development of land opportunities.

Mark Charter, Partner in the Thrings Agricultural team in Romsey, said: “Having Isobel rejoin the team following her qualification is fantastic news. Having already established her legal knowledge in agriculture, we are looking forward to seeing her apply her experience in planning to provide a truly in-depth service to our rural clients looking to diversify as she continues to flourish as a lawyer.”

Prior to his qualification, Bailey had completed a seat within the Commercial Property team, as well as seats in Litigation and Employment. Through his appointment, he will be involved in the firm’s secured lending work and a range of transactional matters, acting for both landlords and tenants, as well as on acquisitions, disposal and management of property.

Ben Jones, Head of Commercial Property, said: “Bailey has excelled in his time with each department he has worked in, and we are pleased to see he wants to turn his attention back to commercial property. He is a hard worker with great attention to detail and we are excited to see him continue to grow in the role.”

Having worked within the Family team for the past seven years whilst completing her CILEx studies, Emily will be utilising her vast experience to find solutions-focused approaches to assisting couples on separation, private children arrangements and assisting couples starting out in their relationships.

Kate Barber, Partner in the Thrings Family team in Romsey, said: “Having balanced her studies alongside her day job, Emily’s tireless work to give clients the best possible support has been incredible. This step up has been a long time coming and we are so happy to see her qualify.”

As one of the country’s best firms for training new lawyers, Thrings has established a reputation for providing a well-rounded learning experience that prepares its juniors for their legal career through on-the job experience in a “wide variety of seat options” and through its inclusive and engaging Thrings Academy initiative.

This is reflected in the Legal 500 Future Lawyers rankings, where the firm is ranked in seven of 14 possible categories, including job satisfaction, work/life balance, inclusiveness and the approachability of supervisors.

Simon Holdsworth, Thrings’ Managing Partner, said: “Bailey, Isobel and Emily have really stood out throughout their time with us, demonstrating a clear passion for their work, dedication to their clients and an ability to adapt quickly and seamlessly to changes in the law.

“Through their time in training, all three have qualified with a greater understanding of the law, as well as a great deal of expertise in their chosen fields, which ultimately will be a major asset to clients and we’re delighted they are continuing with us..”
