Ros, who specialises in Planning matters, will be supporting incoming chair Carly Willis, of Claremont, in providing strategic direction and organisational support to the regional division.
Seeking to enhance the profile of women in the property and construction industry, the association includes professionals from property consultancies, construction companies, architects and designers, developers, housebuilders, engineers, planners, legal and financial specialists.
A keen participant since 2014 and events coordinator for the last three years, Ros is one of three Bristol-based Thrings lawyers involved in the organisation.
Construction specialist and associate solicitor, Natalia Sokolov and Naomi Butler, associate solicitor in the commercial property team, have been active members for a number of years - with Natalia holding the Chairmanship from 2015-2016 and Naomi leading the branch’s administration as joint committee secretary for the past four years.
The association is a keen investor in the professional development of its members and helps to build contacts and opportunities in the industry through a full annual programme of events across the region - including skills seminars, CPD workshops, networking events and exclusive visits to construction sites.
WiP’s mentoring programme was designed to help pass on expertise from more experienced members. Take-up has been exemplary, with over 600 members nationally having benefitted to date.
Ros said: “I have seen Women in Property South West go from strength to strength since I joined in 2014, with now over 200 members in the region making the branch the second biggest nationally.
“WiP remains as committed as ever in its efforts to bring gender equality, merit-based success and fairness to the property and construction sectors. I am therefore delighted to be stepping up from the position of joint events coordinator to support Carly in continuing the branch’s excellent work.”
