Thrings has announced the continued growth of its award-winning agriculture team with the arrival of a ‘dynamic’ new litigation expert.

Polly Ridgway joins the firm from Clarke Wilmott as a Legal Director, bringing more than a decade of legal experience that has seen her act for clients on a wide range of agricultural matters. Her areas of expertise span a wide range of disputes include farming partnership issues, tenancies and occupation issues, land disputes, and contentious probate, estates and trusts.

Polly has also acted for clients in high-profile cases, notably acted on the opposing side to Thrings at the Supreme Court on the landmark Guest v Guest proprietary estoppel case which has shaped the law on farming inheritance disputes.

Polly’s outstanding work has been recognised for a number of years in the prestigious legal directories. Having been ranked for a number of years, the most recent edition of the Legal 500 ranked her as a “Leading Associate” for her work in Contentious Trusts and Probate and in Chambers & Partners where she is listed as an ‘Associate to Watch’ for her work in agriculture and rural affairs.

As the newest member of the firm’s nationally recognised agricultural team, ranked in the top tier by both Legal 500 and Chambers, Polly will be utilising her skillset to support clients on rural land disputes including tenancies and notices to quit, farming partnership disputes, succession disputes, land occupation and land issues.

On joining the firm, Polly Ridgway said: “Thrings is one of, if not, the best agricultural law firm in the country, with an outstanding reputation for excellence. I am thrilled to be joining the team and helping them to deliver its exceptional legal service for the firm’s wide array of clients. I am delighted to contribute to the firm’s continued success.

Robert James, Partner in the Thrings Agricultural Litigation team, added: “At Thrings, we are always looking to strengthen our ability to provide a comprehensive service that meets the needs of our clients by having the best people for the job. With Polly’s outstanding track record and profile within the market and the farming community, we are excited to have her join the team.”

Thrings’ Agriculture team is one of the largest of its kind in the UK with decades of experience in successfully supporting its farming and landowner clients to achieve their aims and the potential for their business. Its lawyers are ranked in the highest tier by both the prestigious Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners directories and have been chosen by the NFU to act for its members in more countries than any other firm.
